A press release from the United Nations has praised new, pro-women legislation in Spain and, simultaneously, referred to self-identification as “best practice."

The Spanish legislation improves safety and availability of abortions, mandates sex education, introduces menstrual leave, and introduces measures to protect bodily autonomy of young women — all measures of critical interest to Spanish females.

Then, in a remarkable example of Trojan equestrianism, the UN release says:

[…] The provision of equal parenthood rights for lesbian mothers, a ban on genital mutilation for intersex children, and measures to end so-called “conversion therapy” perpetrated against LGTBI persons are some of the specific features of this national program to promote social inclusion in the health, employment, education, culture and business sectors.

The experts noted that the legislation aligns the Spanish system of recognition of gender identity with the UN-identified best practice of self-identification. Contrary to some erroneous narratives, the new system ensures legal security through the possibility of judicial review, adequately placing the burden of proof on the questioning party and the State, and not on trans and other gender-diverse individuals. In this way, arbitrary, humiliating, and damaging obstacles to legal recognition have been removed.

Among the ‘experts’ listed is Mr Victor Madrigal-Borloz, Independent Expert on protection against violence and discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity, the person who has been the subject of official complaints of bias and incompetence by the LGB Alliance in the United Kingdom. Mr Madrigal-Borloz has failed egregiously to represent the interests of LGB people in discrimination based on sexual orientation. Mr Madrigal-Borloz says he does not believe that transwomen are “men in dresses,” and that they are “not men at all.”

[…] Mr Madrigal-Borloz urges countries to introduce gender self-ID and champions the activist manifesto known as the Yogyakarta Principles instead of doing his job. He largely ignores the “SO” part of his mandate. He has proposed no plan to counter the criminalization of same-sex relations in 69 countries. He has proposed no plan to counter the worldwide discrimination and violence targeting people with same-sex sexual orientation. He repeatedly insists that gender self-ID poses no risk to the rights of LGB people or women, despite being supplied with a mountain of evidence to the contrary. Besides dismissing the facts presented to him, he also misrepresents the law, falsely asserting that international human rights law requires the introduction of gender self-ID. He has an obligation to publish the submissions he receives, but he does not publish those from LGB groups that reject gender identity ideology, apparently deeming them “hateful”.

The press release on the important Spanish reforms is another example of how pro-women and pro-intersex legislation and movements are being used to advance gender ideologies harmful to women, lesbians, and the LGB communities worldwide.
